Esponja de Menger

One of the 3D fractals that I like very much is the Menger sponge.  As the name suggests, it was discovered by Sir Karl Menger at the end of the twenties. The implementation of this fractal has more things in common with the IFS (iterated function system) than with the Mandelbrot formulas.  At the bottom let me show you some original pictures that were inspired by the Menger Sponge. Some of the pictures have a fractal background created with JWildfire. For instance the #2 is a collaboration with Berta Piñero (she created the background image). Later all layers were edited with Gimp.

Uno de los fractales tridimensionales que más me gusta es la esponja de Menger. Tal como su nombre indica fue descubierta por el Sr. Karl Menger a finales de los años 20.  La construcción de este fractal tiene más en común con los IFS (sistema iterativo de funciones) que con las fórmulas de Mandelbrot. Más abajo podéis ver algunos diseños originales que fueron inspirados a raíz del la esponja de Menger. Algunas de las imágenes tienen un fondo fractal que fue generado con JWildfire. Por ejemplo el nº2 es una colaboración con Berta Piñero (ella diseñó la imagen de fondo). Posteriormente todas las capas fueron editadas con el Gimp.
