Menger sponge

Menger sponge

Esponja de Menger

One of the 3D fractals that I like very much is the Menger sponge.
As the name suggests, it was discovered by Sir Karl Menger at the end of the twenties.

The implementation of this fractal has more things in common with the IFS (iterated function system) than with the Mandelbrot formulas.

At the bottom let me show you some original pictures that were inspired by the Menger Sponge. Some of the pictures have a fractal background created with JWildfire. For instance the #2 is a collaboration with Berta Piñero (she created the background image). Later all layers were edited with Gimp.

Fractalismo

Fractalism

Fractalismo

According to wiki, fractalism is an art movement emerged in the last decade of the twentieth century, with a history since 1985, derived from the mathematical concept "fractal". Katherine Hyles considers the theory of fractal geometry of Mandelbrot as a new aesthetic. While Eva Neuer proposes the recognition of everyone (past present and future) is contained in oneself and at the same time, each part belongs to the whole. This implies that while you change yourself, you change the world.

In line with this semi-philosophical concept, we have created the Community "Fractalismo" for sharing with spanish people the passion for fractal art in all its manifestations, whether is the Julia set and Mandelbrot 2D, IFS or 3D. It is a way to share creativity transformed into a fractal.
This is a public community, so if you feel some connection or resonate with this, don't hesitate to join and participate.

Currently , although it has few days of life, we have some designs created by the artist Berta Piñero, and XRL Creative - Create your Life Entity.
